CHEMIPROTECT ENG. Heavy-duty industrial Flooring systems constructed of acid-proof brick and acid/alkali resistant mortar are essential in areas subject to heavy loads, aggressive chemicals and high temperatures.

CHEMIPROTECT ENG. offers a comprehensive line of acid-proof lining materials. These products may be used in various combinations to solve a wide range of corrosion problems in:

  • Dye & Intermediates
  • Chemical Processing
  • Fertilizer Plants
  • Petroleum
  • Petrochemicals
  • Chloro-Alkali Plant
  • Steel Mills
  • Power Generation
  • Smelting & Refining
  • Battery Rooms
  • Textile
  • Paper & Pulp
  • Rayon Industry etc.

CHEMIPROTECT'S Acid-proof industrial flooring systems withstand all types of physical abuse, while providing protection from wide range of highly corrosive chemicals, at elevated temperatures. Proper design, selection of materials & proven installation for new or existing areas give you a permanent system with advantages not offered by any other type of flooring.

CONCRETE SUBSTRATE: The concrete substrate should be sound, clean, dry, and free from any contamination. Proper slope should be maintained in all areas.

MEMBRANE:
The membrane forms an impermeable layer between acid-proof brick construction and concrete sub-base. Several membrane systems are available from CHEMIPROTECT depending on the condition of the sub-base and chemical & temperature condition requirements. An appropriate membrane system is selected to provide sound construction and maximum protection.

MORTAR: CHEMIPROTECT ENGINEERS offers several specially formulated cement-mortars for fixing acid-proof bricks. These mortar systems utilize organic or inorganic binders combined with Silica, Carbon or other select fillers. The result is a variety of mortar products each offering advantages for a specific chemical condition.

The appropriate mortar should be selected and installed using the bricklayer's method, with typical 6mm thick bedding and side joints of 4-5mm. The bedding is trowelled directly on cured membrane, and acid-proof brick, buttered on five sides are then placed directly into the wet bedding mortar. Subsequent acid-proof bricks are then firmly massaged into position and should be tapped to squeeze mortar from the joint. Once the bricks are in place, excess mortar should be struck from the joints. Following proper curing of the mortar is highly recommended.

ACID-PROOF BRICK/TILE: Most industrial flooring & lining involves a 37mm thick brick for light traffic & chemical exposure. For heavy-duty application a 75mm thick acid-proof brick should be used. In areas subject to severe physical attack a 75mm thick single or a 37mm thick double layer may be used.
